I normally shop at Ultramar or Poineer, due to their lowest price but there is no Gift card offer for these brands, I suggest to treat everyone equally..

You could follow Speedway's example. They now let you redeem points toward a sweepstakes prize. I realize that is exactly what you are doing now, but take it a step further. Let people redeem points for the chance to earn more points, say 50,000 pts. These points, if won, could be used to purchase more sweepstakes entries for the gift card (or for additional sweepstakes entries for more points).

At the end of the give away give other prices for members that came close but did not win the gas prize.

How about a check that gets sent to the winner as *** $ CASH $ *** .for $250. I know a lot of folks are asking for free gas cards (I've never had one so I really do not know how they operate), but if they operate in the same method as cash AND you can get the "cash" price when your purchasing gas, then the gas cards are ok in my opinion. If the gas cards operate like a credit card and you can only get gas at the "credit" price offered, then I'd strictly prefer cash.
However, aside from my feelings on the above I think it would be a nicer mixup if a few GPS devices were tossed in perhaps once every month. OR Is there a possibility of a winner choosing his or her prize of cash, gas card, gps device, or maybe even an Amazon gift card ?

Gas cards are the best prize--the cost of gas is why we are all looking at this site--don't change a good thing :)

Keep it as gas cards only. The winner can then use the money they save on gas to buy a gps, ipod or what ever they want. Maybe they could even save it or pay down other debt???

keep the gas cards. An occasional GPS device would be nice to help find and address to get to a gas station. We are posting prices to find the best gas price so free gas cards to major gas stations should be the give away or an occasional GPS to help find the shortest way to your destination to save money on gas.
Great site, look forward to the new home page.

I see other suggestions for prizes but I still feel the gas card only is the way to go. We are a gas price club are we not.

I'd say keep the gas cards under the if it ain't broke axiom. Otherwise cash or a widely accepted gift card, i.e. Amex, Visa, or Mastercard.

I say stick with the gas cards, under the Keep It Simple strategy. The website is all about buying fuel, just stick with gas cards. That's my $.02 worth, and I'm STICKING to it!
Happy Holidays to all GasBuddies.

I have a GPS, but for those who do not it would be a nice option, as it does save on gas. I would prefer the prize to be optionable, gas card OR this or that prize. I also think that if this sight is about saving money in gas the prize should be in the form of a gas card not cash ( the idea being to save on using gas or money being spent on gas).

I am not really interested in the weekly prize and have never looked at how it works... If I played the game, give me a credit card with credit.

Sorry Gas Buddy of Md, but I'm with JudgeHarry44 of Tx. With the economy the way it is a cash card would be the better prize. It would probably go directly into the tank but the flexibility would be nice. However, a gift is a gift. So... make me next week's winner and I'll take whatever prize you choose.

Sorry, but I'm probably missing something in JudgeHarry44's response. Why should a website promoting gas price savings give cash cards so people can buy food? Even if that's what's needed. Wouldn't something "automotive", more specifically, fuel savings related, be more appropriate?
Otherwise you could just as easily say, "Which would you rather receive as a weekly prize: A Halloween costume (regardless of the month of the year), a slab of bacon, or post card pictures of either Paris or Honolulu? That would have just as much relevancy to the website's purpose.
Or am I missing the objective of the prize and participation in the give away?

Gas is a necessary for living (if you have a car). iPods, GPS and other stuff are not. Anyway, if you have a decent phone now, it has all that in there too.
